'Actions'

Using mail art as a medium, I collated a series of written actions based on verbs. These permanently documented commands became the score for a series of temporary performances. The transience of the instructions were choreographed into short sequential interpretations, which focused on the movement of muscle obeying verb. The permanence of the written instructions became the foundation for the Variable Edition. Each replicating and evolving as the exchange continued. Letters are forever, actions are temporary.

The connection between the verb and the action was reinforced by the space in which they both existed. The action was written and performed, beginning and ending in the same location. In addition, the duration of each performance was dictated by how long it took to write an instruction on the letter, creating a visual representation of time in relation to action.
